Eric Bailly has explained why he’s had such an impressive start to his career at Manchester United.
He arrived from Villarreal during the summer for £30 million and has left everyone surprised after his quick start in the Premier League.
Many believed it would take him time to adapt to football in England, but he’s worked his way into a vital role and has only missed the victory away at Northampton.
Speaking about his arrival, he claims welcoming team-mates have helped him settle.
“The people have been very friendly with me, the players too,” he said.
“There are players who speak Spanish and French and they help me integrate. I’ve just started having English classes, too. Little by little.
“It’s important for the other players to have confidence in you. It was my dream since being a child to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world and now I’m here, I’m going to take that chance.”
Mourinho has urged him to take English lessons and he has picked up basic words which will help him communicate with his team-mates, but you can only imagine how much easier it will become once he can talk fluently with players on the pitch.
He’s made an incredible start to life at Old Trafford and at 22, it looks like Mourinho has unearthed a serious gem in the Ivorian international.
