Eric Bailly reveals big plans to impress Jose Mourinho at Manchester United

Eric Bailly has revealed his strategy when it comes to impressing Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

The Ivorian was the first of four major signings made by Mourinho over the summer, signing for a fee of £30 million back in June.

And despite initial concerns surrounding Bailly’s inexperience, the 22-year-old has taken English football by storm, producing a series of imposing, powerful displays alongside either Daley Blind or Chris Smalling since joining from Villarreal.

Speaking ahead of the Ivory Coast’s contest with Mali on Saturday, Bailly expressed his desire to learn from Mourinho.

“It’s a huge club with some of the best players, so training is always going to be tough,” he said.

“It’s important for younger players like myself to show the coach what I can do every day. He’s experienced, I’m not. He knows what to look for so I must show him that I’m ready to play for him.”

On paper, the introduction of Bailly looked, well, risky. This was a 22-year-old with just one good season – in a comparatively slower, less physical league – under his belt, coming to a major club as an unknown prodigy.

But if the odds were stacked against Bailly, the Ivorian clearly didn’t take much notice. In fact, Bailly doesn’t seem to take much notice of anything that doesn’t involve bludgeoning opponents into oblivion. Needless to say, it is a joy to watch, and United fans will hope it continues for the foreseeable future.
