Marcus Rashford’s case to start for England gets stronger after Malta cameo

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United fans are already in love with Marcus Rashford and after another exciting cameo for England in their 2-0 win over Malta, England fans are beginning to appreciate him in the same vein.

Rashford came on just before the 70 minute mark and even though he played out on the left wing you could see how much verve he brought to England. He crafted a chance for Dele Ali and in a game where we should have seen Gareth Southgate giving us a look into the future of England, Rashford encapsulated that more than most.

Here’s what a few Man United fans and journalists thought of his performance:

Rashford is our most exciting player and I’d argue he’s probably England’s too. He always plays without fear and what we saw by England at Euro 2016 against Iceland was our players being crippled by the occasion – Rashford never seems awed by any occasion, so the quicker he starts every game the better.

And he needs to start up front as well, the same goes for United but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in our team and Jose Mourinho choosing to play one up top that might not happen for a while. However, Southgate can use him in the right way for England and the sooner Rashford plays in his natural striker role, the sooner he can light up the stage for England.
