Hugo Lloris believes France’s Euro 2016 campaign is the reason why Paul Pogba has suffered a dip in form at Manchester United.
He arrived at Old Trafford for a world record £89million deal, but hasn’t lived up to the expectations of fans after becoming the world’s most expensive player.
French team-mate Lloris believes Pogba has the ability to deal with pressure and will prove himself on the main stage against Netherlands on Monday night.
“There are a lot of players who played in the Euros and experiencing physical difficulties at this moment,” he said.
“Their preparation was not ideal for the new season. Paul is one of them. And he has to take on a record transfer to Manchester United.
“There are lots of little things that have slowed him.
“But we all know he has many qualities and talent – that’s why we’re demanding of him.
“But things will go well for him with work.
“Paul has everything to be a great player but we always ask him to back that up. He can show it in a big game tomorrow [Monday].”
Expectations have piled onto his shoulders, but it’s only normal for some to question his extraordinary fee, especially after joining Man United.
After being publicly criticised by French boss France boss Didier Deschamps, he will be relishing the opportunity to showcase his talent.
Pogba has a vital role to play at Old Trafford, but at 23, he still has plenty of time to learn from his mistakes and improve.
