Antonio Valencia heading into Liverpool clash in form

Antonio Valencia has been given an in-form card in FIFA 17 after impressing for Ecuador during the international break. The 31-year-old produced a match-winning performance for La Tricolor against Chile, clocking up a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win.

His excellent form for the national side has its roots in a sensational start to life under Jose Mourinho, which has seen the Ecuadorian cement himself as the side’s first choice right-back.

Valencia was named alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Thomas Muller, Mario Mandžukić and Robert Lewandowski in FIFA’s Team of the Week on ‘Ultimate Team’.

Manchester United’s visit to Anfield promises to be titanic in many respects. It may be October but with three points separating the two sides, this game in the context of the entire season is astronomically important.

Mourinho’s side will enter a cauldron at Anfield next Monday, brimming with noise from the stands and, more importantly, sheer bombardment from the home side. Jurgen Klopp’s side – in true Klopp fashion – will launch a furious onslaught from the first whistle.

Valencia, United’s most reliable asset so far this season, needs another stellar performance against what will be a tenacious attacking line-up. A characteristically imposing performance will, one suspects, precipitate confidence across United’s back four as the game goes on; on the other hand, a shaky performance could cause United to wilt.
