Wolfsburg are considering a January move for out of favour Manchester United attacker Memphis Depay.
German newspaper Bild suggest that with Wolfsburg doing so bad currently having only scored four goals in their opening six games, boss Dieter Hecking is looking to strengthen in the winter transfer window.
Memphis really has had such a muted career so far at Man United. There are stand-out moments like his performance against FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford or away to Watford last season but he’s been disappointing that some United fans are beginning to become disillusioned with him as a prospect.
Over the years we’ve seen lots of players struggle in the Premier League having moved from abroad and unfortunately for Memphis he’s fallen right into that category, and it’s taken lots of people by surprise. He was absolutely mint for PSV Eindhoven but has been a complete shadow of himself since joining United.
For me personally, I don’t want to see Memphis leave just yet. I think we’ve still got to give him a full season under Jose Mourinho and then judge him at the end of it which is what I expect to see happen, so I doubt he’ll leave in January.
However, if Memphis limps through this season under Mourinho and remains anonymous for large parts of it, then calls for him to leave the club will continue to get louder.
