Ian Wright believes Wayne Rooney has to think about his next career move at Manchester United very carefully.
The Englishman has been dropped by both club and country in recent weeks following a disappointing run of form.
He was introduced in England’s latest World Cup Qualifying game away at Slovenia in the 72 minute and now has to deal with a lesser role.
Speaking about Rooney’s decisions, Wright claims he needs time to sit back and learn what he wants in his career.
“He needs time to sit back and think about what’s happening in his career right now and how he wants to finish it.
“At the moment it’s petering away and he’s on the periphery of games.
“I like to see our greats go out great.”
Rooney will be hoping to start against Liverpool at Anfield, but Mourinho would have to be willing to drop one of his current midfielders.
Juan Mata‘s fine-form has made it a tough decision for the Portuguese boss and it’ll be difficult to predict the starting XI against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Man United need to get a result from Liverpool as the pressure is continuing to mount on the side and with rivals Man City and Tottenham Hotspur dropping points over the weekend, there will be even more of an incentive to close the gap.
