Sam Johnstone has expressed his excitement on social media after he signed a new contract with Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has penned a new deal until 2018 after entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

He has been at the club since he was 10, but is yet to make his competitive debut for Man United.

Here’s what he had to say on Twitter.

He was part of the squad that won the 2011 FA Youth Cup in a side featuring Michael Keane, Ravel Morrison, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.

The problem for him however, is that after joining a countless amount of clubs on loan, Johnstone will be looking to pick up some first-team game time.

With David de Gea in fine-form and Sergio Romero as his back-up, I can’t see him fighting his way into the side anytime soon.

Although training alongside one of the best goalkeepers in the world will undoubtedly help his development, Johnstone will need to pick up some much-needed game time and it remains to be seen if he’ll be able to achieve that at Old Trafford.
