Manchester United vs Fenerbahce: Team news

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United are expect to put out a strong team tonight against Fenerbahce in the Europa League at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho has made it abundantly clear he won’t simply be using a second string side in a game where Man United must win and we do have some early confirmed team news.

Luke Shaw is set to start his first game for Man United since Watford. Mourinho confirmed the 21-year-old will return and we’re going to presume he’ll come into his usual left-back position, meaning Daley Blind will be rested or pushed into either central defence or central midfield.

I’ll be interested to see how Shaw gets on ahead of Chelsea away on Sunday. It would be a more expansive move from Mourinho and one I’d invite because with Victor Moses playing at right wing-back and a back three, Chelsea are going to leave so much space in behind which Shaw could exploit more than Blind.

In some more good news, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is completely fit again. He’s not been involved at all in United’s season so far which has been such a shame but now he’s ready to have an impact. We’ve desperately missed having a natural right winger in the squad with pace and it will also mean Marcus Rashford is more likely to get used through the middle which is a double bonus.

We’ll have full team news at 7pm an hour before kick-off as always.
