Timothy Fosu-Mensah is delighted to have signed his new contract at Manchester United and is keen to repay Jose Mourinho for the belief which has been shown in him.
Fosu-Mensah, 18, signed a new contract on Monday which will keep him at the club until at least 2020 and is the first major contract of his professional career having joined Man United as a 16-year-old back in 2014.
Fans are excited to see his continued development in the first-team and Fosu-Mensah himself wants to keep progressing as a player.

Speaking about his new deal, Fosu-Mensah said: “I am delighted to have signed a new contract here at Manchester United. I have enjoyed every minute since I joined this great club and I want to continue the progress that I feel I have made so far. I am learning every day from the manager and the coaching staff. I appreciate the trust that the club has in me and I want to repay that with my performances on the pitch.”
Antonio Valencia is currently doing very well at right-back for United but Fosu-Mensah will get his opportunities this year, maybe tonight against Fenerbahce, and I’d argue his best position lies elsewhere anyway.
Fosu-Mensah is a natural defensive midfielder and is equally as adept at centre-back so while we might have seen him most in the first-team as a right-back, there is every chance he might develop into a different role over the next couple of years at United.
I’m just as delighted as Tim is to see him sign a new contract and the next step for him is attempting to force his way into Mourinho’s plans by continuing to work hard in training.
