Chelsea 4-0 Manchester United: Player Ratings

by Sam Peoples

David de Gea 4 – What was he doing running out for the ball which led to Pedro’s goal? As for the rest of the goals,

Antonio Valencia 6.5 – The only United player who deserves praise for his performance.

Chris Smalling 2 – That’s the worst 45 minutes I’ve seen from Smalling since he got sent in at the Etihad a couple of years ago which was swiftly followed by the worst 45 minutes I’ve ever seen from Smalling in the second. Trash.

Eric Bailly 5 – The least wobbly of our centre-backs on the pitch but still poor. Went off after 50 minutes with an injury.

Daley Blind 4 – An atrocious first half of football. Pedro had him toast. Didn’t get any better in the second, a dross performance from our whole defence bar Valencia.

Marouane Fellaini 3 – Absolutely woeful in the first half. Left Ander Herrera so isolated and Mourinho took him off because he was that bad.

Ander Herrera 4 – Below the level he showed at Anfield. Let Kante and Matic walk rings round him, especially for Kante’s goal which was the knife in the side.

Paul Pogba 4 – Non-existent in that first half in yet another different midfield set-up. Worse in the second.

Marcus Rashford 5 – Really played far too deep and when he had half chances he fluffed his lines.

Jesse Lingard 4.5 – Played so deep he was effectively a left-back in the first half. Taken off early in the second.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic 4.5 – Dropped deep only to pass the ball out wide? Strange first half, missing in the second. Only didn’t go off because other subs were more important.

Juan Mata 5 – Definitely helped change our shape but Hazard’s goal killed the game.

Marcos Rojo 4 – United were playing badly…I know what, let’s bring on Rojo! First contribution was to give the ball away summed it up from him.

Anthony Martial 5 – Why didn’t he start the game? That’s my biggest question.
