Former England captain Alan Shearer believes Jose Mourinho needs to play Marcus Rashford up front with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United.
The big Swede has gone six games without a single goal and missed plenty of chances during the 0-0 draw with Burnley on Saturday.
Rashford has always thrived in the central role and many supporters believe his talents are wasted out on the wing.
Speaking after the game, Shearer claims Rashford could be the answer to Ibrahimovic’s problems up front.
“He looked better when Rashford went up front with him in the second half. It added more pace to the game,” he said.
“Ibrahimovic has never been blessed with great pace but when you get to your thirties, you lose a yard of pace.
“I feel as though that’s what Manchester United need, to have him up front along with Rashford to ask more questions going in behind rather than facing up all the time.”
Fans grew frustrated after Ibrahimovic had missed sitters against Burnley and it seems his body can’t cope with the task of playing every three days.
Leaving him on the bench to rest or simply playing him alongside Rashford would allow him to hold-up play better whilst the Englishman does all the running.
It could be the perfect combination and with Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to be re-introduced into the squad soon, it would result in Rashford keeping his place in the squad.
