Manchester United reject January transfer window move for Memphis Depay: report

by Tanveer Arayan

Manchester United have rejected a £15 million bid from Galatasaray for Memphis Depay, according to reports.

Louis van Gaal paid £25m for Memphis in June 2015 and the club are allegedly not willing to make such a loss on the 22-year-old.

The Mirror claim Turkish boss Jan Olde Riekerink is a keen admirer of the Dutch winger and will look to place an offer for his services in January.

Jose Mourinho is said to be open to a loan deal until the end of the season, which will give Memphis more playing time that he won’t get at Old Trafford.

Memphis has made just seven appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side this season and failed to make a mark on the side. He arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations after he fired PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie league title, as the club’s top goal scorer, but it just hasn’t worked out for him so far at United.

The Dutchman has suffered a massive decline during his time at Man United and despite showcasing glimpses of his ability, particularly in Europe, has failed to cement his place in the first-team. So, that’s why his future is in question.

For me, he’s one hell of a talent but I don’t know what he needs. It looks like confidence but every time he plays, he fails to take advantage of the opportunity. The only person who can turn his fortunes around is himself and until Memphis really turns it around with his performances, he’s slowly creeping towards the exit door.
