Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, has revealed why his client decided to join Manchester United during the summer.
He was linked with plenty of top clubs including the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, but ended up joining Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman has shown glimpses of his ability since his transfer but hasn’t been able to keep any consistency with his performances.
Speaking about Pogba, Raiola claims he joined his former club because he was needed there.
“Because I think: you have go to the club that needs you. This club needed them,” he said.
“Look, Pogba could have gone to all the top clubs. But Real Madrid had just won the Champions League. He’d have been a trophy player there.
“Barcelona — their three trophies are Messi, Neymar and Suarez. What you see is the final result of years of sculpting. I spent two years working on Manchester United’s deal with Paul.”
He has failed to find his form under Mourinho, but this is down to the Portuguese boss failing to cement his best XI.
Pogba has been playing with different midfield partners each week and all he needs is to build some consistency at Old Trafford.
His every move on the ball will be criticised after he became the world’s most expensive player but Pogba just needs to do the talking on the pitch.
