Henrikh Mkhitaryan trained on his own at Carrington on Sunday afternoon out of choice, according to reports.
The Armenian was not involved in Manchester United’s draw against Burnley and chose to work on his fitness at the club’s training complex.
Reports suggested Jose Mourinho had made him train alone, however after United players were given Sunday off by the Portuguese boss, Mkhitaryan went for an additional training session.
Manchester Evening News claim Mkhitaryan has always done the extra sessions dating back to his time at Shakhtar Donetsk and if that is indeed the case then there is no better way to impress a manager than to show hard work and commitment in training. It looks like Mkhitaryan is doing everything he can which is all fans could hope from him.
Supporters were expecting to see him in action against Burnley on Saturday and grew frustrated with Mourinho after not being included in the fifth match day squad in succession.
Ruben Hayrapetyan, the president of the Armenian FA, has confirmed Mkhitaryan is unaware of the reasons behind his exclusion at Old Trafford.
He will undoubtedly be working hard and training intensively in an attempt to return to the first-team, but after scoring 23 goals and providing 24 assists at Borussia Dortmund last season, he shouldn’t be having to work so hard to even get an opportunity to break into the squad.
