Jose Mourinho has given Matteo Darmain his full backing at Manchester United.
Reports suggested the Italian would be leaving Old Trafford, but he’s had a key role to play with Antonio Valencia‘s recent injury.
Despite not picking up many minutes throughout the season, Darmian has picked up from where Valencia left off and has been spectacular so far.
Speaking in his press conference, Mourinho insists he’s ready to play against Fenerbahce.
“An important fracture in his arm and an important surgery too,” he said.
“He’s going to be out for a while but the main thing is that even when Antonio was playing very well, we were preparing Darmian and Darmian was having matches. He was playing against Feyenoord, Zorya and Fenerbahce. He was having minutes.
“When in the last match we had to play Darmian for the first time in the Premier League, he was ready to answer the way he did it – playing really well in the last match against Burnley.
“He’s ready to play tomorrow and to give continuity of the good work our right backs are doing in both competitions.”
Darmain has been brilliant so far and has proven Mourinho can rely on him with his stellar performances.
The Italian has been solid at right-back and hopes are he can keep up his impressive form in Istanbul on Thursday afternoon.
