Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be handed a Europa League ban after grabbing Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjaer by the throat, according to reports.
The big Swede came off the bench midway through Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat in Turkey to replace the injured Paul Pogba.
He was involved in an altercation with Kjaer as Ibrahimovic seemed to trip the Danish defender as the ball went out of play, but Kjaer stopped Zlatan from taking quick throw in, where the 35-year-old then grabbed him by the throat and shouted in his ear.
Referee Milorad Mazic appeared to miss the incident and there was no action taken during the game.
However, television footage clearly captured the moment and there could be some form of action against Zlatan.
He has been struggling for form recently and has only scored once in his last 11 games for United across all competitions.
Fans have grown frustrated with his performances up front and have urged the Portuguese boss to play Marcus Rashford in the central role as his talents are being wasted out wide.
It was an unlucky night for United, they fell behind in the second minute after a stunning overhead kick from Moussa Sow before Jeremain Lens found the back of the net with a brilliant free kick in the second-half.
Hopes are Mourinho can get the campaign back on track with the clash against Swansea on Sunday at Liberty Stadium.
