Juan Mata reacts to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goal celebration against Swansea

Juan Mata‘s somewhat confused face in the background of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goal celebration against Swansea City summed up exactly what we were all thinking.

Zlatan reeled away after scoring his first goal since September 10 and jumped into a huge karate kick to celebrate. I mean, his leg looked like it was over Phil Jones‘ height and although perspective played its part, that’s still some serious height.

Mata took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the celebration and his face really does say it all – ‘did I really just see that?’

With Ibrahimovic, I’ll be the first to admit I heavily criticised his poor finishing since City at Old Trafford in early September. As far as I am concerned, his misses personally cost us points against Stoke City and Burnley at least, potentially away at Liverpool too and an early goal back away to Chelsea may have changed the outlook of that game too.

However, he was back to his clinical best against Swansea and took his chances just as you’d expect a man whose built his reputation of being prolific in front of goal over a number of years in different leagues across Europe. The expectations on Zlatan have only been built by himself. That’s the Zlatan we want to see and need to see if we’re to mount a title challenge this season.

Nobody expects Zlatan to score every single shot on goal but moving forward from here, and after the Arsenal game which he is now unfortunately banned from, here’s hoping Ibrahimovic can maintain that sort of form and start banging in goals for fun again.
