Memphis Depay determined to fight for his career in the Premier League – report

Memphis Depay will reject a move to Marseille in January because he wants to stay in the Premier League, according to reports.

The Ligue 1 side are allegedly interested in snapping up the winger in January, but Memphis is keen to fight for a starting spot at Old Trafford.

He has failed to make his mark on the side at Old Trafford since a £25m switch last summer, scoring two goals in just 16 Premier League starts under Louis van Gaal.

The Dutchman has continued his struggle under Jose Mourinho, making seven appearances, six coming from the substitutes bench.

Memphis was left out of the 21-man squad for United’s Europa League clash with Fenerbahce and didn’t feature against Swansea City on Sunday night.

He’s fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and there’s a slim chance of many Premier League clubs queueing up for his signature following his showings in England.

A loan move would suit Memphis as he is still young and while he hasn’t performed since his move, his talent is still undeniable.

Allowing him to leave for such a loss would be a bad move, especially when he has the potential to become a solid player at the club with some guidance.
