Timothy Fosu-Mensah revealed that Michael Carrick has helped him the most during his time at Manchester United.

The Dutchman enjoyed a spectacular breakthrough under Louis van Gaal last season, leaving fans shocked by his raw talent and ability on the ball.

His importance was highlighted during the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last campaign, where he was replaced by Matteo Darmian with just 20 minutes to go, but minutes after the Dutchman was taken off through injury, United found themselves 3-0 down at White Hart Lane.

Speaking about Carrick’s contribution, Fosu-Mensah reveals he has always helped him and speaks with him often.

“It’s great to work with all the players here,” he said.

“Especially the experienced ones. You train with them every day so you can see what they’re doing and talk to them.

“The older players speak with you and help you, especially Michael [Carrick], he speaks with me a lot and just gives me help with the little things. The team spirit we have here is great.”

It’s brilliant to hear about Carrick’s impact at the club yet again, Mourinho has realised his importance on the pitch in recent times and youngsters have always been quick to highlight his impact off the pitch.

As a player that has won pretty much everything there is to win in football, Carrick’s presence at United is a massive boost for youngsters coming through the ranks, as Fosu-Mensah suggests.

Hopes are we see the Dutchman in action soon as he has proven there is a massive future ahead of him at Old Trafford.
