Bastian Schweinsteiger has set his sights on a January transfer to the MLS after being pictured with Chicago Fire manager, Veljko Paunovic.

Reports suggest Man United have offered him up to £10 million to get him off their books if they can’t find a club to take him during the next transfer window.

He earns earns £180,000-a-week and is owed around £18m in wages with two years left on his Old Trafford contract.

If a deal is met, he could join a new club in January with Chicago Fire a likely destination after recent discussions.

He arrived at Old Trafford in 2015, but only went onto make 18 Premier League appearances following an injury-plagued debut season.

Bastian has also failed to impress Mourinho, falling even further down the pecking order behind the likes of Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin.

The German has been an outcast at Man United ever since Mourinho’s arrival at the club and it seems after recent circumstances he could finally be on his way out, even though he rejected a summer move to Sporting Lisbon, claiming United would be the last club in Europe that he played for.
