Jesse Lingard has opened up about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s impact at Manchester United since his arrival during the summer.
The Englishman has praised Ibrahimovic’s winning mentality, following league titles with Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
He was one of the most prolific strikers in the world last season and despite a shaky start to life in England, has scored eight goals in 17 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking about his desire, Lingard is hoping to continue his learning under Zlatan.
“The mentality of wanting to win has come into my game more,” he said. “Before games, my first thought was to play well but often if you get the win, the performance will come with it.
“When Zlatan came in, the first thing he said was he wants to win. Obviously that mentality rubs off on all the team.”
He has been heavily criticised for his performances in recent times due to his goal drought, but answered back in perfect fashion with a double against Swansea City last weekend in the Premier League.
It’s not only about his impact on the pitch though, as Lingard suggests, he’s won trophies all over the world and after winning pretty much everything there is to win in football, will be a massive inspiration for players in the dressing room.
