It’s the first time that all three of United’s Spaniards, David De Gea, Herrera and Mata, have all been named in the senior squad together.
While Mata is hoping to earn his 41st cap in the England match, Herrera is still awaiting his debut after being left on the sidelines since his first senior call-up last month.
Speaking about Herrera, Mata claims he has been in excellent form recently.
“Ander’s been in excellent form and I’m happy for him,” he said.
“He always shows the same passion and he has this good character on and off the field. He has great quality that he can bring to the side, with and without the ball, and he can score goals, which is very good for the team.”
Herrera has been brilliant at Old Trafford and has done well at adapting to his new role alongside Paul Pogba, completely earning his international call up.
After his suspension in the Premier League, hopes are he can keep up his impressive form once he returns to the side against Arsenal next weekend.
