Henrikh Mkhitaryan was pictured in good spirits as Manchester United prepare for their clash with Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
The Armenian has only made five appearances at Man United since arriving in July, with his last and only start dating back to September 10.
Numerous pundits have lambasted Mourinho for not giving Mkhitaryan sufficient opportunities to excel at Old Trafford this season.
But despite being a hitherto anonymous figure under Mourinho, the 27-year-old was all smiles at Carrington earlier today.
Saturday’s contest could be an ideal time for Mkhitaryan to make an appearance, mainly due to the shockwaves of surprise that would permit the Arsenal squad.
I mean, be perfectly honest: do you really expect Mkhitaryan to play any part against Arsene Wenger’s side? It’s highly unlikely. This man has been inexplicably consigned to the periphery at Old Trafford and Mourinho, as he demonstrated after the defeat to Fenerbahce, clearly doesn’t feel the need to make haste when it comes to reintroducing Mkhitaryan back into the fold.
But perhaps more importantly, do you think Arsenal have prepared for the prospect of facing the Armenian? Do you think Mkhitaryan – last season’s Bundesliga Player of the Year – has even crossed their minds? His unexpected presence, lurking in the space between defence and midfield, could give the Gunners a shock to the system.
