Juventus join the race to sign Man United’s Memphis Depay in January – report

Juventus have entered the race to sign Memphis Depay during the January transfer window, according to reports from Italy.

Memphis, who has only made one start under Jose Mourinho this season, confirmed he would be open to a move away from Old Trafford this January if the right opportunity presented itself.

Other clubs reportedly interested in the ostracised Dutchman include Inter Milan, Everton and Napoli.

And according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, Juventus have expressed an interest in the winger.

The swathe of interest surrounding Memphis is illustrative of his unquestionable talent in spite of his recent barren spell at Old Trafford.

This is, after all, the man who, at the age of 20, single handedly guided PSV Eindhoven to an Eredivisie title; this is the man who turned the tide for Manchester United in a crucial Champions’ League qualifier; this is a man who, despite playing just 24 minutes for his club since early October, scored two sensational goals for his country in a World Cup qualifier.

Make no mistake: the Dutchman is talented, but the compatibility between himself and Man United his dramatically fading. Sometimes players, no matter how talented they are, just struggle to prove effective at some clubs, and such seems to be the case with Memphis.
