Rio Ferdinand reacts to Arsenal’s late equaliser against Manchester United

Rio Ferdinand has expresse his disappointment following Olivier Giroud’s late equaliser during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho’s men dominated proceedings from the first whistle and deservedly took the lead on 68 minutes through Juan Mata‘s strike.

Man United were minutes away from a well-earned victory before Giroud, thrown on immediately after the home side went ahead, rose highest to head home Arsenal’s only chance of the game on 89 minutes.

Ferdinand posted a video of himself in his car, with BBC Radio 5 Live blaring in the background, shaking his head in disbelief.

This was also my exact reaction to Giroud’s goal. Indeed, this is the power of football has on all of us: no matter how old you are, where you are from, what you’ve achieved, and how your life is going at any particular time, conceding a late equaliser to a bitter rival after dominating the game leaves as all with the same mortified, disbelieving expression.

Ferdinand may be an internationally known multi-millionaire, but him and all of us feel exactly the same at this moment in time. And there’s something comforting about that.

Mourinho and Co will be dejected to concede so late on, but they’ll take plenty of inspiration from a performance that demonstrated clear progression under the 53-year-old.
