Joes Mourinho keen to sign David Alaba ahead of squad overhaul: report

by Tanveer Arayan

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is being linked with a move for Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba, according to reports.

He allegedly watched the Austrian international during break and also kept an eye on Alaba’s teammate Julian Baumgartlinger.

Alaba has a contract with the Bundesliga Champions until 2021 but Mourinho is said to be keen on acquiring his services.

Baumgartlinger is seen as a potential replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, who would both make way for the duo.

Alaba is highly thought of in world football and is considered to be among the best full-backs in the world, should Mourinho want to sign him, he’d have to be ready to spend big money to beat the likes of Real Madrid to his signature.

One thing we have learnt from Mourinho’s first transfer window at Old Trafford is that he will get exactly what he wants, attracting the likes of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitarayn, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic even without Champions League football to offer.

Many reports claim he is still planning an overhaul at the club and I for one would not be opposed to seeing Alaba playing at Old Trafford under Mourinho.
