Manchester United now have a few weeks of festive fixture madness after the Arsenal game marked the beginning of a pile-up of games at the end of 2016.
Feyenoord is up next at Old Trafford on Thursday and with an important Premier League match against West Ham at the weekend, Jose Mourinho is expected to make a few changes.
With that in mind, here’s our first potential XI for the Feyenoord game:
Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming back in for Marcus Rashford is probably a sure thing, either that or Wayne Rooney starting. To me, Rashford looks like he desperately needs a rest to get some energy back in his legs and I’d like to see him fully sharp for West Ham.
I’ve also brought Daley Blind into central midfield because I want to see Michael Carrick used once a week for the Premier League games only. That could well see Timothy Fosu-Mensah get some game time as a defensive midfielder during December but in this match he’s down at right-back.
There is also a start for Henrikh Mkhitaryan. That might be overly optimistic but here’s hoping there isn’t some underlying issue between him and Jose Mourinho.
