Memphis Depay has sent a message to Manchester United fans ahead of a potential move to Everton during the January transfer window.
He arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations following his £26.3million fee from PSV Eindhoven, but has failed to make a mark on the side under Louis van Gaal or Jose Mourinho.
The Dutchman has struggled for game-time at Man United under the Portuguese boss this campaign and has been heavily linked with a move to Everton with Ronald Koeman confirming his interest in the 22-year-old.
Speaking on his Snapchat Story, Memphis has urged young supporters to believe in themselves.
He said: “What’s up guys, I just want to send you all a message that goes to all the young people who look at this right now and the message is believe in yourself, chase your dreams, be successful.
“That’s what I do, I believe in myself, keep grinding, whatever you guys are doing, work hard because it’s going to pay off.”
After seeing what he was capable of, Memphis was expected to play a vital role at Old Trafford but he has only made one start this season for United.
Although he has showcased glimpses of his ability, particularly in Europe last season, it’s all been too inconsistent from the Dutchman.
A loan move to Everton would be the perfect opportunity to build on his confidence and pick up minutes he wouldn’t get under Mourinho, however letting him leave permanently could be a big mistake as he has clearly shown he possess the potential to become a solid team player.
