Jamie Carragher claims Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has been one of the best players in the Premier League.
The Spaniard was heavily linked with a summer exit from Old Trafford following Jose Mourinho’s appointment at the club after he sold Mata during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge.
However, he has cemented his place in the starting XI and since the Portuguese boss took over, no midfield player in England has combined more goals and assists.
Speaking about the 28-year-old, Carragher insists Mata has played a vital impact at Man United under Mourinho.
“It’s not a flash in the pan. He’s been here five or six years, I think he should start getting a lot more credit.”
He has rarely played in his favoured position and has had to deal with plenty of inconsistencies and changes among the players around him.
The Spaniard has still managed to produce at Old Trafford and Carragher’s analysis on Mata’s recent performances shed light on just how good he’s been on the side.
