Matteo Darmian heavily linked with a January move to Inter Milan – report

Matteo Darmian has been heavily linked with a January move to Inter Milan, according to reports.

The Italian, following reports of a complete breakdown in relations with Jose Mourinho, was linked with a number of Serie A sides over the summer.

But despite widespread reports of an imminent move away from Old Trafford, Darmian recently revealed that he was not frustrated by his situation at Man United, expressing a determination to impress under Mourinho.

However, murmurs surrounding a potential return to Italy for Darmian have refused to die down.

Darmian’s United career has gone down an interesting path: he arrived and immediately impressed, picking up the Man of the Match award on his debut, before going on to cement himself as Louis van Gaal‘s first choice full-back in the next handful of games.

Then game United’s first half battering at Arsenal back in October 2015, a humiliation that perhaps hit Darmian – violently torn apart by Alexis Sanchez on several occasions – the hardest out of anyone.

Since then, the 26-year-old has been an unsettled, somewhat ambiguous figure. I often find myself asking this question: is he fully committed to the club and just struggling to compete with Antonio Valencia, or is his mind set on a move back to more familiar surroundings?
