Jose Mourinho laughs off Lionel Messi transfer speculation

Jose Mourinho has completely dismissed questions linking him with a move for Lionel Messi in any way shape or form.

Manchester United are always linked with hordes of players to sign in the summer regardless of what month it is and thanks to a Portuguese journalist, the question of Messi came up on Wednesday.

When questioned in his Feyenoord press conference about Messi, Mourinho bemusedly responded: “Honestly, I hope he never leaves because I think he belongs to Barcelona and Barcelona belongs to him.”

Imagine thinking Messi would leave Barcelona, let alone to join a team managed by Mourinho who guided Real Madrid to La Liga success at a time where he became the epitome of anti-Barcelona sentiment. They hate Mourinho.

I mean, I’d love to have Messi but there is more chance of me starting against Feyenoord tonight than there is of Messi joining United and leaving Barcelona. He’ll retire at the Catalan club and nobody will be surprised by that at all after the career and journey he has had there to date.

That being said, if Barcelona fancy letting Gerard Pique come back to Old Trafford that wouldn’t go amiss. Maybe they could chuck in Sergi Roberto too and Neymar if they are feeling generous. It is the festive period…
