Zlatan Ibrahimovic has explained why Henrikh Mkhitaryan will eventually shine at Manchester United.
The 27-year-old has made just one start in the Premier League in the 2-1 home defeat against Manchester City on September 10 and has recently been re-introduced back in to the side for the 4-0 Europa League defeat of Feyenoord on Thursday night.
He has struggled with fitness issues following his £25 million from Borussia Dortmund in the summer and hasn’t received enough opportunites to make his mark on the first-team.
Speaking about his talent, Ibrahimovic believes he will fit into the side with ease.
“I know who Miki is, I see it every day in training, so hopefully he showed everybody who he is and has the confidence to keep on doing that,” he said.
“He was injured and he has been training very hard since, being very professional, so you just have to wait for your chance and, when you get your chance, you need to take it.
“It is up to the coach who plays, because there are 25 players if I am correct, so the coach is the boss, he decides who plays.
“He is a quality player, like every player in the team, but it is up to the coach who plays in the team. Like I said, he was injured for a while, but he has come back and he has been good in training, like everybody else.”
Fans had become frustrated with his exclusion from Mourinho’s matchday squads and it was brilliant to finally see him back in action.
Mourinho has challenged him to keep up his impressive form in the Premier League and there’s no doubt that he has the talent to dismantle West Ham once they come knocking at Old Trafford over the weekend.
