Jose Mourinho has explained why he had to make a number of changes to Manchester United’s squad for their clash against West Ham.
Man United have struggled to score goals in recent times, despite the fact that they’ve created some of the most chances in the Premier League.
Following draws to Stoke City, Burnley and Arsenal, Mourinho was hoping to boost his team’s confidence as he tried to introduce a new dynamic into the side.
“(We have) a few changes,” he said.
“We had that kind of result against Leicester which was the only match at home where we had a chance to score and we did, then a second chance and a goal.
“Part of that was tremendous was the attacking football we produced.
“Not enough goals means not enough points. So lets see today if we can score enough goals to win.”
Following the dominating 4-0 victory over Feyenoord in the Europa League on Tuesday, there were high hopes that United would carry their momentum into the Premier League fixture.
Once again, although chances were created, United failed to remain clinical in front of goal and Mourinho’s men left Old Trafford with one point.
