Monaco defender Fabinho opens up about Manchester United interest

Monaco defender Fabinho has opened up about interest from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho handed the then 19-year-old a debut for the first-team in 2013, but he claimed there was no concrete interest for a reunion.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford with the Portuguese boss allegedly weighing up whether to meet Monaco’s £25million asking price for his services.

Speaking about his situation, he is focused solely on Monaco’s challenge for the French league title.

“There was something with Manchester [United], I think there was an interest but nothing concrete,” he said.

“I am settled in Monaco, we have made a good start to the season and I am focused on them.”

It goes without saying that having someone of his ability would easily boost our current squad and as he shares the same agent as Mourinho, there is a big chance of signing him.

He is highly-versatile and offers attributes both defensively and in pushing forward on the right flank, although he has played in a defensive midfield role for Monaco.

With Antonio Valencia‘s rise at Old Trafford it remains to be seen whether Mourinho would still invest in the Brazilian’s services.
