Luke Shaw has heaped praise on summer signings Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, claiming the pair have brought a massive presence to the Manchester United dressing room.
Pogba returned to Old Trafford after four years at Juventus in August for a world record fee of £89m, signing on a five-year deal.
Ibrahimovic, on the other hand, joined Man United on a free, signing on a one year contract with an option to extend for another year.
Shaw, speaking to Youtuber and United fan Tobiias, said: “[They have brought] a massive presence and a lot of experience – especially Ibra. He’s won so many trophies and has been to so many different leagues. He’s been through everything.
“And Paul, he is more of a youngster but he was in the world XI last year. We know what sort of qualities he got and we’ve got so much respect for both of them.”
Jose Mourinho, following United’s 3-1 win over Swansea City earlier this month (a game that saw both Pogba and Zlatan find the net), criticised the soft attitudes harboured by some of his players, naming and shaming both Shaw and Chris Smalling.
This is indeed a pervasive problem at United this season, as shown once again by the disastrous finishing against West Ham United last Sunday.
Zlatan and Pogba, however, don’t suffer from this issue. The pair both hallmark their approaches with a sense of immense bravado, as if they truly believe that they can batter their opponent into submission.
United fans will hope to see such an approach permeate the entire side as the season goes on.
