Henrikh Mkhitaryan produced a Man of the Match performance during Manchester United’s 4-1 win over West Ham United in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
The Armenian, on what was just his third start of the season, treated Man United fans to a simply sensational display from attacking midfield, producing a series of magnificent turns and passes as West Ham begun to lose their grip on the encounter.
A quick glance at his stats shed light on what was a truly sensational display.

Football, despite its supposedly recreational nature, is not something we often enjoy. Watching United is, of course, less of an enjoyable experience and more of a painful, cathartic exercise that happens once or twice a week.
But then there are those moments. Those moments where you can sit back and admire a piece of footballing brilliance with perfect peace of mind.
Watching Mkhitaryan glide across the pitch, bamboozling and infuriating any player that managed to get near him, was one of those moments. He was seemingly untouchable, always seeing things before anyone else, and always moving the ball faster than anyone else.
United fans have reached a unanimous verdict: that Mkhitaryan deserves a place in the starting XI on a regular basis. Whether Mourinho agrees remains to be seen.
