Everton manager Ronald Koeman set to offer Morgan Schneiderlin a new chance – report

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is set to offer Morgan Schneiderlin a new chance in the Premier League in January, according to reports.

The Frenchman has only made seven appearances under Jose Mourinho this season and has failed to make a single start in the Premier League.

It was reported earlier this year that Ronald Koeman, who sold the Schneiderlin to Man United back in 2015, was keen on luring the 27-year-old to Goodison Park after he received the Everton job over the summer.

And according to the Telegraph‘s John Percy, Koeman has reignited his interest in the midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

It was clear from the very start of the season that Mourinho, clearly keen to uphold the club’s long-standing tradition of dynamic, forward-thinking football, wanted a midfield packed with attacking impetus. His first midfield duo – utilised against Southampton, Hull City and Manchester City – included Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini, two notoriously powerful, attack-minded midfielders.

This is perhaps why Schneiderlin, a notably more defensively orientated midfielder, has struggled to find his feet under Mourinho this season. That said, as the season wears on, the 53-year-old may see the Frenchman’s steel as valuable as United enter the business end of the campaign.
