Victor Lindelof’s agent has confirmed he will be staying at Benfica following heavy links with a move to Manchester United.
He has established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders so far this season, attracting interest from top clubs.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has previously urged Jose Mourinho to make a move for Lindelof when the transfer window opens after talking about the 22-year-old’s talent.
Speaking about Lindelof, his agent claimed he will not be on the move anytime soon.
“There are many speculations regarding Lindelof’s future, but he plays in one of the best European clubs already,” he said.
“There are many clubs interested in what Benfica are doing, but we are on very good terms with the president and we’ll decide Lindelof’s future together with the club.
“They will decide if he deserves a contract extension. There are many clubs interested in signing Lindelof too, but he’s happy at Benfica at the moment and doesn’t want to leave.”
It’s no surprise Lindelof wants to remain with his current club, Benfica are currently top of the Primeira Liga, two points clear of Sporting Lisbon.
While United are far off Premier League leaders Chelsea and trail by 13 points after Sunday afternoon’s 1-1 draw with Everton.
