Henrikh Mkhitaryan sends a message to Man United fans following another spectacular showing

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has expressed his enthusiasm after scoring his first goal for Manchester United against Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Armenian, making his third consecutive start under Jose Mourinho, broke the deadlock in Odessa with a magnificent solo-effort in the 48th minute.

Man United fans and Mourinho were both quick to hail another sensational performance from the 27-year-old at the full-time whistle.

Mkhitaryan took to social media after the game to register his delight with the goal, expressing a desire to replicate Thursday’s goalscoring heroics at Old Trafford.

It is worth noting that Mkhitaryan, as a teenager, departed his troubled homeland of Armenia to spend four months in Brazil. This period, he has noted, was crucial when it came to forming the player that United fans see today. The culture both on and off the pitch helped shape his approach, and this became apparent in Ukraine.

United’s clash with Zorya took place on a pitch drenched with a layer of rain and underlying ice, making acute, accurate passes notably difficult and quick turns nearly impossible.

Mkhitaryan, however, danced on the ice. Nobody – especially Zorya’s back four – could match the Armenian’s poise and mazy movement on the ball. With just one swift turn he left three defenders in no-man’s land, sending bodies to the floor with one mesmerising drop of the shoulder. It was like watching Zico or Socrates slaloming past bamboozled defenders in the 1980s, and the world – including the entire Zorya side – could only look on in quiet awe.
