Matteo Darmian has denied that he is seeking a move away from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
He was expected to leave the club with a move back to Italy after failing to cement his place in the Man United side.
However, he has been playing at left-back ahead of Luke Shaw and has denied a move in the new year as he’s feeling comfortable in his new role as left-back.
“I play for one of the biggest clubs in the world so I’m happy,” he said.
“I listen and read about the transfer but I don’t know anything. At the moment, nothing is true. I will continue to do my job and want to stay here.
“I’m a natural right-back but playing on the left is not a big problem. I’ve been at left-back the last few matches and I feel comfortable in that position.”
He normally plays at right-back but has struggled to keep up with Antonio Valencia, who has kickstarted his career under Jose Mourinho and been in spectacular form.
After struggling for game time at the start of the season, he’s picked up more minutes due to Shaw’s injury problems, starting our last six Premier League games.
Before that, Darmian had only featured in the Europa League and it seems he may have found a place in Mourinho’s team even though some of his performances have frustrated supporters.
