Jesse Lingard has revealed what Jose Mourinho told him before Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over West Brom.

The Englishman was handed a start at The Hawthorns and made the most of his opportunity with an inch-perfect assist for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first goal.

He hasn’t been able to fight his way into the side in recent times, but provided the perfect cover for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is currently sidelined with an injury.

Speaking about the game, Lingard claimed that Mourinho spoke to him about feeding off his striker’s movement to find space for himself.

“The manager just told me to make sure I noticed the gaps so I could run in behind,” Lingard said.

“I looked up and saw Zlatan in the box and he finished with a great header.”

The win was United’s third straight in the league after a difficult run of draws and they could be set to extend their lead against Sunderland on Boxing Day at Old Trafford.

United have been in brilliant form and have played well even though they weren’t able to claim the results their performances warranted.

Hopes are they can continue the impressive displays and continue their win streak as they’ve slowly closed the gap on the top four.
