Tony Pulis makes ambitious swoop to sign Morgan Schneiderlin at West Brom – report

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has reportedly expressed a desire to sign Manchester United outcast Morgan Schneiderlin during the January transfer window, according to reports.

Schneiderlin hasn’t made a Premier League start under Jose Mourinho this season, managing just three starts in all competitions, with his last coming in early November.

It has been reported that Everton boss Ronald Koeman, who sold Schneiderlin to Man United back in 2015, was keen on giving the Frenchman a fresh start at Goodison Park in January.

However, according The Sun‘s Mike McGrath, the Dutchman will face competition from Pulis in the race to secure Schneiderlin’s signature.

One suspects that Everton – blessed with a relatively strong squad, a devoted fanbase, and a manager Schneiderlin knows and trusts – would serve as a preferable destination for the Frenchman. It was, after all, under Koeman that the 27-year-old begun to attract the attention of various top clubs, impressing many with his energetic, bombastic, no-nonsense style.

It was initially thought that the midfielder’s natural steel would appeal to Mourinho, but the Frenchman – despite impressing when called upon – finds himself miles down the pecking order, and a move away from Old Trafford makes sense for someone desperate for regular first team football.
