Anthony Martial was full of praise for Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his impressive start at Manchester United since his summer switch from Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer.
The 35-year-old has made an incredible impact with 16 goals in his first 25 games in all competitions and has been in fine form with 10 goals in his last nine games.
He was heavily criticised when he first arrived, with some claiming he wouldn’t be able to cope with the intensity of the Premier League, but he’s done great to silence his doubters.
Speaking about his influence at Old Trafford, Martial claims he’s become a vital player of Jose Mourinho’s squad.
“He is a top player and we can’t help but learn from just being alongside him, playing and training with him, seeing what he is doing now and what he has done in the past,” he said.
“In spite of his age, he has been a tremendous help to our side.
“He is doing loads for us. Let’s hope his form can continue because that is going to help us to climb the table, which is our goal.
“We have a lot of experience in the squad and, together, we have to show what we can do to progress.
“We are a few points behind the top four at the moment, which we have got to make up, but it is down to us to maintain our good form and turn it into even more victories.
“We have to take each game as it comes, but if we can continue playing the way we are and add a few more goals, then who knows what we can achieve in terms of trophies this season.”
Ibrahimovic would have been a massive figure regardless of if he performed on the pitch, acting as a mentor for several younger members of the squad, including himself, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Luke Shaw.
Despite a mixed start for United, they have now reached a unbeaten run of 10 games and hopes are they can go on to achieve big things if they maintain their current form.
