Manchester United square off against David Moyes’ Sunderland at Old Trafford in the Boxing Day fixture this year and we head into the game in great form.
Jose Mourinho’s side have won three consecutive games, are unbeaten in eight in the Premier League and ten in all competitions. So, reds will be confident heading into the match at home of securing another three points which will crank up the pressure on those teams above us even more.
Of course, who Man United start with is crucial and here is who I think Mourinho should put in his line-up to face Sunderland.
The return of Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a belated Christmas present for fans because he was in such sensational form before Danny Rose hacked him down in our 1-0 win over Spurs. It was awful for a player who bided his time, worked his socks off and earned the plaudits of both fans and Mourinho alike. With him back in the team, United would have such a threat on the right hand side especially with Antonio Valencia overlapping.
I haven’t included Eric Bailly so as to keep the partnership of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo together but that’s where the biggest question mark lies – should Bailly come straight back into the team? Let us know in the comments.
Sunderland might be in better form than the start of the year but United are clear favourites today and if we can win then our push for the top four is only going to continue gathering momentum.
