Phil Neville has urged Anthony Martial to tell his agent to stop linking him with other clubs so he can focus on his career at Manchester United.
His representative, Philippe Lamboley, claimed Sevilla wanted to take the Frenchman in January as they had explored the possibility of a potential transfer.
Martial found his only goal of the season following a difficult start to the campaign in Man United’s 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough and he’s started showing signs of re-finding his best form.
Speaking after the game, Neville insists it’s time for Martial to tell his agent to let him focus.
“The club invested £56m in him and he needs to play to that level more consistently.
“Secondly, he needs to ring his agent and say ‘why are you linking me with Sevilla?’
“He should say ‘I’m at the biggest club in the world, or one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I want to stay here’.”
He was an indispensable member of the squad last season and it’s a shame that he’s suffered a dip in form which has seen him dropped from the starting XI for club and country, but he has the right mentality and has been working hard to fight for his place.
Hopes are Martial can maintain his form moving forward as there’s no doubt that he’s one of United’s most influential attackers when he’s playing at his best.
