Memphis Depay is hoping for a more positive year as he has been heavily linked with an exit from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The Dutchman hasn’t started a Premier League game under Jose Mourinho and recently told the Portuguese boss he wants to leave the club this month.
He arrived at the club with high expectations following his spectacular campaign at PSV Eindhoven, where he guided the side to the Eredivisie title as the league’s top goal scorer.
However, after a disappointing time at Old Trafford, Memphis is hoping for a change in the new year.
It’s been a disappointing time for Memphis and he hasn’t been able to establish himself in the first-team, however letting him leave on a permanent basis at 22, is a big mistake, especially after Paul Pogba returned to the club as the world’s most expensive player.
A loan move would be beneficial for Memphis as he’d be able to pick up minutes in the Premier League with Everton on a consistent basis, which isn’t the option at Old Trafford.
Hopes are he doesn’t leave the club completely as there’s no doubt that he possess the ability to become a top player.
