Gianluca Di Marzio: Patrice Evra wants Man United return and Jose Mourinho wants him

by Leo Nieboer

Patrice Evra has expressed a desire to return to Manchester United and Jose Mourinho is keen on acquiring the Frenchman’s services, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 35-year-old signed for Juventus for £1.5m back in 2014 after six years at Old Trafford. His contract expires at the end of the season.

It has been reported this week that Evra, who has won four major honours during his time in Turin, has set his sights on ending his career at Old Trafford.

And according to Di Marzio, Mourinho would be more than happy to oblige the left-back.

Evra’s most valuable contributions at Man United, should he return, would be hidden away from the public eye: his attitude in training; his overall dressing room presence; his ability to galvanise others with his unyielding spirit. This is what the 35-year-old can provide in abundance.

It is impossible to find a more uplifting presence in the modern game (I mean, this is a man who, through one video of singing in his car, made me love Mondays), and his immense experience at United would complimeny the energy he brings to the dressing room with a sense of valuable wisdom.

Whether he could replicate such uplifting brilliance on the pitch, however, remains to be seen.
