Manchester United reject £13m from Lyon for Memphis Depay

Manchester United have rejected a bid from Lyon for Memphis Depay, according to Sky Sports.

The bid was understood to be in the region of £13m and the French club have not met United’s valuation for the Dutchman as they are reportedly ready to hold out on a transfer until they receive a bid in excess of £18m.

Jose Mourinho has allegedly made it clear that Man United are happy for him to leave on a permanent deal in the January transfer window, but only if the deal is good for both parties.

He moved to Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven for £25m in June 2015 and made 45 appearances under Louis van Gaal, scoring seven goals in the process.

However, under Mourinho, he has been frozen out, playing just nine matches this season, only four of which came in the Premier League.

It’s a shame to see such a big talent go to waste, especially because supporters knew what he was capable of, but letting him go on a permanent basis could be a costly mistake.

Memphis is only 22 and has plenty of time to become a top player at Old Trafford, the only thing he needed was stability and a chance to build himself in the Premier League.

Hopes are Everton hold their interest in the Dutchman, as a year with Ronald Koeman, could be exactly what he needs to re-find his best form.
