Paul Pogba has labelled Antoine Griezmann as his brother as speculation continues to link the Atletico Madrid forward with a move to Manchester United.
Reports claim talks between Man United and Griezmann had reached an advanced stage, with Jose Mourinho allegedly ready to match the forward’s €100million release clause.
Atletico president Enrique Cerezo claims Griezmann is expected to stay at the club for years to come, but manager Diego Simeone insisted he had no intentions of tying any players down.
Speaking about the situation, Pogba claims their relationship off the field pushes them to play well together.
“I always have good times when I’m with Grizou,” he said. “He’s my brother, we’re always together.
“When you’re feeling good away from the pitch it’s easier for you on the pitch, and that’s what’s happening with the France team.”
It’s a dream situation to have Griezmann playing at Old Trafford in his beloved No.7 shirt, but a deal won’t go through unless Simeone leaves the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
Reports have continued to intensify during the January transfer window and one thing we have learnt from Mourinho’s first summer at the club is that if he sets United on a player, they’ll get him, as he brought in Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly without Champions League football to offer.
